I'm curious about how many of you may also live in an older home. Or do you seek out vintage furnishings (as in sofas, chairs, tables, not scarves and cufflinks ) for the house you live in?
Do you look for larger accessories to make your home feel more vintage? Or is it just the clothes/hats?
I'm extremely fortunate. My house was built around the WWI years. The stuff I love fits into it and looks swellegant. We (wife & two daughters) have picked up some persian carpets for the hardwood floors. None of the furniture is new. I scour fleamarkets for old silverplate and arts & crafts era pottery. There's a victrola in the corner, Maxfield Parrish on the walls. And of course, a hat tree by the door. I'm building a pair of Morris chairs now. It all looks mainly unchanged, though probably from around 1925 - 1930.
Do you find it easier to fit the stuff into a new house? If you do, I know you certainly have better plumbing.
