REQ: Sweatband Reattachment For Dummies.

So I got my very first vintage Borsalino in the mail yesterday and did the first thing I always do when I get a new hat -- I checked under the sweatband for any markings or items. What happened? Of course, of course... the stitching on the sweat was so weak that it unattached itself very easily from the hat.

When this happened with my Champ Deluxe, I sent it off to Optimo to have it repaired, and they even cut me a great deal. They did a wonderful job. The only problem I have, of course, is that it's not the original sweatband. I knew this going in, so it's not like Optimo surprised me with it. I'm just a huge fan of retaining all original parts. It's my completist Aries ISTJ personality.

I realize that one option I have is to send the Borsalino to Optimo requesting that the original sweat be retained (it's still soft and in great shape), but with the installation of a fence this summer, I'm not particularly rolling in gold here.

Could somebody (or somebodies) please post a detailed tutorial (with photos, if you're so inclined) on exactly how sweatband reattachment is done? I'd like to give it a go myself, and while there are plenty of previous threads talking about doing it, I haven't found any talking about how.

I defer to you! Help?

I've put sweats on hats I've made, but the without the proper training and tools I'd stay away from doing it yourself on a fine vintage hat. As much as I like to do things myself, I'd have a pro do it.
