Repairing a Wool Blazer

I suppose this question has come up here before, but my search attempts to find an answer were not successful.

I have a worsted wool blazer, about ten years old, with a 1/4" hole in the sleeve near the front of the bodice. The blazer is lined. How should I repair it? I'm sure this is an obvious question to some of the knowledgable sew-ers here, but I'm not experienced at repairs and don't want to ruin my blazer.

Thanks.

Re: hole in wool blazer

Hi Paisley,
Find a drycleaners/alterations place that does "reweaving"...ask around or check your Yellow Pages. When you find one, ask if you can see samples of their work (nothing worse than a botched reweaving job), but if the weaver is competent they can fix the hole perfectly. A friend blew the knee out of some wool trousers falling on an icy sidewalk, and after the hole was re-woven, you can't even tell there was any damage done.
Hope this helps!
