Relining a SUIT jacket

Hello all,
My trip to the Vintage Expo sparked up my tastes for suits again- I keep reviewing the suits and suit jackets I own, trying to think of events when I can wear them!
One or two of them though need work- namely, the lining.
Has anyone had a vintage suit relined? (I saw posts about zip-up jackets but not suit jackets.) Anyone had one relined with shoulder lining (rather than full lining?)

I ask because obviously, as we ALL know, so many places use polyester lining that is practically stapled and hot-glued into the suit. I would hate to get it back and go "Oh my GOD! What did you do to it??!??!?"

Replacing the lining of a jacket is a common alteration, where generally bemberg is sewn in either by hand or machine. If the jacket was previously quarter-lined then it's an easy job but if it was fully lined there will be lots of seams to finish.

I have had it done---fully lined by my tailor but it isn't cheap. This is especially true if you choose a nice material and have it done by hand. My tailor's employee looked at me as if I was nuts because the 1946 suit is not exactly in the best of condition. He had a different look when I came to pick it up though. It was fixed very nicely. :D
