A really nice large tailcoat, a rarity to find such a large tailcoat in good condition and in midnight blue with matching trousers.
There is a flaw in the trousers: a 3/4" tear in the seat of the trousers (see pics). However, there are two things going for you: first, a decent tailor or alterationist should have no problem making it nearly invisible and, secondly, it would be covered by the tails. The previous owner rather sloppily stitched it up so there's no chance of it growing.
Other than that blemish this thing is in excellent condition. It could stand a cleaning. The workmanship is fantastic and the fabric is nice; light enough for summer wear if desired. Don't know what the fabric is, but looks like a lightweight wool.
The facings are black so you get an attractive play of colors. It is fully lined and the lining is in excellent condition. All buttons are present, the zippered fly works well. Trousers have suspender buttons.
Two examples of midnight blue tails from the 1930s, just like the tailcoat for sale here.
