My latest favorite cocktail is the Red Hook. I discovered it at an amazing speak easy in Sydney Australia called The Baxter Inn. I am tempted to do a separate thread on it.....but I'm going roll it into one.
OK....first the joint: The door is hidden in an alley behind a building leading to the basement. You'd never find it unless someone told you.
Here is what is in the basement:
These guys know their craft. They create top shelf boutique cocktails. The Red Hook is a Manhattan style drink that has become my current drink of choice. The Red Hook cocktail was created by bartender Enzo Enrico at Manhattan’s Milk & Honey.
2 ounces rye whiskey
1/2 ounce Punt y Mes
1/2 ounce maraschino, to taste
Stir with ice, strain into chilled cocktail glass.
I think I'll go mix one right now.
Enjoy!
