Either this was identified wrong, or it's quite a good repro... Was hoping to win it for cheap, then i saw a f-loungers bidding on it and knew i had no chance...

1970s? No way. Try 1940s.

I set up an automatic sniper bid for it three days ago. Then, just a few hours before the auction ended, another Lounger placed a bid. Mine turned out to have been a bit higher, so I won. Not the $5.99 bargain it could have been, but still a good price for a '40s 3-piece DB pinstripe suit in a size 40 R.

And yet ... if this suit had been listed in eBay's "1930s-'40s vintage menswear" category, it could have ended up selling for over $300 ... even with the moth holes, which appear to be tiny.

I suppose it's possible, though it looks pretty intricate for a homemade suit. I'll look it over and let you know.

Ah, yet another vintage grey pinstripe suit eludes me... I'll get one someday. Silly me to think I would walk away with that one without some serious competition; but at least it's going to a good home!!

In all, it looks to be a very well tailored suit, Marc. I wonder if the lack of tags means it's bespoke? I guess you'll have to wait until it comes.

If only you'd looked there last January, you would (or could) have found these two very well-made 1930s double-breasted 3-piece suits in pristine condition -- look at the skeleton lining on the second one! Size 40 R. And check out the prices they went for. (I didn’t find them, either. Drat!)
