I have for sale a good copy of The News Chronicle book 'The Life of King Edward the Eighth; being a study and record of the King's life up-to-date' by William J. Makin. Published shortly after his (that's the King's, not Makin's) accession to the throne in 1937. First edition copy by George Newnes Ltd., London.
Hard back (obviously), 320 pages, 240 'half-tone illustrations' (photographs to us). Covers his childhood, study at Oxford, WW1 military service, hunting in Canada, South Africa, India etc. Visits to the US and South America, the PoW as a pilot, golfer, etc. etc. Has most of the famous photographs and some that I have never seen before, along with fascinating details of his life as PoW. Contains lots of 'safari', sporting and clothing photographs.
Bound in maroon cloth, generally good condition, slight wear to spine. Some foxing and marking to inside covers, pages clean, no tears. Rare volume.
Asking 20 GBP plus actual cost of shipping.
