Kinda trivial, but help me make up my mind. I'll be traveling for Thanksgiving and as usual I'll be overdressed in the eye of the rest of the world.

I've three ensembles in mind, but just can't decide.

...worn with a tan and rust Stetson that Art refurbed for me. I'll probably wear a different tie.

...my current favorite, but I've been wearing it a LOT lately.

...I don't have the shot of myself with the jacket on, but it's a nice postwar 2-button wide notch lapel with a high waist and drop loops.

My pick from the vintage outfit Showcase is Door #3.

1. Door #1 Hollywood Jacket, swing tie would be ok without a lid.

2. Door #2 Too severe, ok for swing dance/vintage event IMO [huh]

3. Door #3 :eusa_clap looks both periord , but has contemporary feel
suggest you ditch the pens from the shirt pocket.

SC

Door #2

ok Wingnut,

I really dig the photo for Door #2 with the period pieces

BUT if you wear that gig in flight with the lid & AF Officer stare
the flight crew may have to ping the air marshall lol

SC ;)

I voted for tan simply because it is more autumnal. Othewise, the green was the best. The HH tan/burundy contrast sleeve and lapel doesn't do a whole lot for me, but that's just my preference. Whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll execute flawlessly.

Outfit #1 looks the comfiest to me. Hughes wore loafer jackets to fly – why can't you, too?

But you know, don't you, that had you worn outfit #1 back in the days of the Real Man's Air Force, you'd be lucky if the Major (likely a hardened veteran of air combat) didn't give you a spit-on-your-shoes glare and tell you to go visit your local draft board...;)

That's me getting sworn in, Fletch.

Well, green it is then, even if it's what I wore last year to travel.

Got a shirt starched up and the tie and shoes laid out. Wearing the tie in the photo with some cordovan Florsheims, and schlepping the Bogie trench as well. Maybe the TSA drones will see a well-dressed gentleman and not a Jimmy Cagney lookalike contest champ hopeful.
