Quick and dumb question

I was hoping some here can help settle an argument between a small group of friends. Long story short, there is a disagreement on whether one can or cannot wear black shoes with a chocolate brown suit. Without getting too much into things, the suit is a dark chocolate brown three button.

Just a few responses would settle things.

Thanks.

Yes, black and brown can be combined with care:

In this case, assuming that there is no black in the weave of the suit, I would look for a suitably-toned accessory to bring the two together.

To echo AJ, yes but with care. For some reason I really like black suede shoes with brown flannel or tweed but otherwise not so much.[huh]

Thanks for the input. The suit in question is an older one I am able to fit into again. I was going to wear the suit, a chocolate brown monotone, with black shoes and a blue-with-brown rope stripe shirt to an afternoon social function but this argument arose. Thanks for the backing!
