Does anyone know which is supposed to be a higher grade with Mallory (40s and 50s I think--the old cream liner), "Premier" or "Aristocrat"? Simillar question with Adam hats, "Premier" or "Executive."? Thanks.

Wow, a member who can answer his own question!

And how is it your post count didn't move from 21 to 22?

As for me, I have two Mallory's! One from the late 30's and one from the early 40's. They are so nice!!!

Well, now I have both grades. For anyone who is interested, it looks like "Premier" is the better line for both brands. Makes some sense I guess.

You are right. The premier is just a bit higher grade but it is mostly higher grade in the sweatband, ribbon and trimmings. The felt is just about the same to me. As you move up their product lines (and just about every hat company's hats from the golden age) the hats at the highest quality range only differ in what I mentioned. The higher end hats are also finished by the more experienced hatters at the company.

Regards to all,

Grade difference

I agree, with the Mallory the difference seems to be in the trimmings; the Premier has the windstring, double bow, etc. and the Aristocrat is simpler. With the Adam, I think the felt in the Premier is better. That could be a difference in time, but I suspect these hats are contemporaries. Anyway, thanks for the info JamesPowers, as always.
