question about lucite shoes

There is currently a pair of lucite springolators in my size at a good BIN price on eBay. They look a bit yellow. Is this a sign that they aren't in good condition? Here's my dilema, buy these shoes or buy some on-sale Besame lipsticks. My budget this pay period only allows one treat. Springolators seems to come up in my size quite frequently, but not for $25.00.

If they are yellowed, they can still be in good condition. However, you cannot remove yellowing from lucite shoes. You can clean them with Windex, but usually the yellowing is from the inside out.

it is quite rare to find any with no yellowing, my pair have barely been worn and still theres a slight yellow tone.

Actually, I haven't even worn them yet! Maybe tonight...

yes the yellowing is a chemical reaction, so it cannot be cleaned, however i don't think this is an indicator that they aren't structually sound.

Dodgette is right. Yellowing doesn't necessarily indicate a problem with the shoes. I've had yellowed ones before that had no problems. It's just an aesthetic nuisance.

Tuff decision! Shoes or lipstick... I don't know what the shoes look like but I'm wondering about why they are only $25? I know you can find deals on ebay but I would be worried I'd be disappointed when I get the shoes.

I don't think I would be disappointed when I get the lipstick.

Okay I'm no help what so ever...:D

I think you're right. The same seller has other Springolators (but not lucite) for sale at 2-3x the price. The shoes are cute, except for the yellow, but they're very yellow. I think I would be happier with the lipstick.

Sadly I have put shoes back on the shelf due to yellowing in the lucite, knowing I'd never wear 'em. About a year ago I lucked out and found a pair of (mid 50's?) pink heels with lucite that hadn't seemed to yellow at all! in the original box with the original tissue paper. If I have time tomorrow I will try to take a picture and post it, they're really cute! now if only lucite didn't hurt the tootsies I'd probably wear them, they've been in the box since they were purchased last summer.
