I was cleaning up today and found a nice pair of Edwin Clapp black 40s mild good looking spades. Tagged size is 11.5AAA but they have been stretched a bit sideways, have a couple minor aged based condition issues. Nothing too dramatic - a bit of flabiness in the leather at the achilles from a slack arse prior owner not using a shoe horn. A bit of simple reinforcement. Also some crazing from age but no splitting or cracking. Quite a high shine = superb leather = Edwin Clapp RIP one of the greatest.
Despite their long modernish Italian-style 40s last - they are only 11.5 inches inside. I suspect these could be worn by a 10.5D in a snug fitting....I actually got them on (almost) and I am an 11E. Original laces and soles. The soles are down to the stitching on the close channelled soleing. Nicely waisted soles in the 40s style. Easiest thing would be to simply Topy them and be done with it rather than recrafting them. Pix to follow....
