Proper Hat Wearage

I have a Stetson (western, aka cowboy) hat that is a 7 1/8, so I naturally purchased a 7 1/8 Knox grey fedora. It's a wonderful hat:

The only problem is, it sits pretty high on my head. With the narrow brim, it looks too small on my head, but I really don't know if it's simply too small for me, since fedoras are worn differently, or if I just need to be content and patient and wear it for a while first and get used to the look.

I like to wear my hats low on my forehead, about an inch or maybe two above my eyebrows. This makes the hat sit a couple inches above my ears. This is great for wearing sunglasses, but I'm not sure if it's "acceptable" fedora usage.

Does anyone have some old pictures that show where the back of your hat should fall on your head? Should the brim come down right to the tip of your ears?

I may just decide to sell this if I can't make up my mind. I'll list it here first, before putting it on eBay.

Unless one prefers a higher sitting hat. ;)

Feeling comfortable with a hat is the important part. If you think the hat is sitting too high or low on your head then you have answered your own question.
Wearing a snug hat will stretch it a bit and it can eventually fit better.
A mechanical hat stretcher is another option.

How about a picture of the hat on your head? They are worth a thousand words..:)
