Proper fit?

Is there any "proper" place for a hat to sit on one's head? Obviously, a "correct size" could mean many things. The circumference could be correct, but if the crown height is such that it doesn't allow the hat to "seat" properly, it could look too high on the head.

Is there a "correct" distance from the top of the ears to the brim of the hat?

Thanks,

David

PS i.e. in the Optimo video, it appeared to me that Graham's hat was sitting higher on his head than that of people pictured on this board and elsewhere.

I've heard that one inch above the eyebrows is the best place to measure, but I think it more depends on the shape of one's face. I don't think there is any "proper" way to wear a hat, as long as it's on your head. Individuality has to count for something. I once read on a hat site that hats should be square on the head and not pushed up high on the forehead, because (paraphrasing), "very few people look good with their hats pushed up." Well, I think I'm one of the few who looks better with a hat pushed up in old reporter style than jammed down square, so that's usually where I wear them. And I'm definitely a right-side angler -- unless the sun is on the left.

I agree with Mallory on this. When I try on a hat and I can wear it the way I like, ( Cocked to the right side) Also it looks good and doesn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t cause a head ache, then it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s a good fit! I never was one to wear any hat square on my head. I like that jaunty look of brim down, cocked to the right side look.

But, if you want to get technical, there are a few pointers on the proper way a hat should fit. It shouldn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t touch the tops of your ears, and should be just an inch above your eye brows.

Follow those and you?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ll sure to be a square! LOL LOL

Regards.

Determine the circumference of the widest part of your head by wrapping a flexible tape measure around it. Generally, the widest part of a person's head is the area one-inch above the eyes and ears.:D
