I don't know if any of you are familiar with the man, but my friend spoke of him and I didn't believe it 'til I saw it.
A Russian chemist and photographer, he developed a method of color photography in 1905. He would take 3 pictures in rapid succession, each using a filter in the primary color. When projected with the right light, it would accurately portray the original colors of the scene. It isn't tinting, it's true color photography.
