Problem with akubra fed arrival...

So I was pretty excited to see the box from The Hattery outside my door today, but then I noticed a few signs of problems...

I'm not sure if I can work with this, or if this is grounds for returning the hat... but please let me know what you think. I'm still a newbe with hats, and I've never bashed one...

Haha. That's sort of funny. No, you don't have a problem. You can rebash a Federation over and over again. Just pop it back out to its original open crown and shape away.

It's probably fine. Knock it out to open crown and start working on bashes. Besides, if it is permanently damaged, at least you've got pictures to back up your story.

Maybe send off an email to them with the pictures at very least they may reimburse you for the shipping (maybe).

Just look at the felt to be sure there are no rips or cracks. If not, the hat should be fine. This is a common problem with hats received by mail or UPS. Imagine getting a box like that with a $250 hat inside... that you waited 10 months for!

my other fedora came without a problem, so I guess I just freaked out a bit when I saw the condition of the box and hat. I've been working on it for a bit now and it seems to be workin' out.

I'll be emailing the photos to them today and see what they tell me.

The problem with Hatsdirect is that they only single box a hat. Other places like Art place the hat box inside a shipping box.
The box my Fed came in looked like it had been drop kicked, had a nice sized hole in it, but the hat was fine.
Lots of the Indy nutters over at COW do worse to their hats to get the proper look.lol
The Fed is a very tough hat ans as long as it doesn't have any creases or tears in it you should be fine.
They should double box their hats, I'd pay extra for it.

I started to work on it some, and it looks like there's a crease I just can't get out. other than that, the hat is lookin pretty fine.

Nothing wrong with that, can we see it from the side and front?

I like my hats with alittle character, so it looks great to my eyes. Maybe a spritz of distilled water will help work out the crease.
