Pre 1940s Stetson Westerns

Black Boss of the Plains

Here's a new arrival from around 1900. The only Fray sweatband that's had a date associated with it was 1890's. A few WWI campaign hats have had the vertical Stetson logo, but are generally gold. The ones without color seem to be older, and the horizontal logos seem to be the newest.

Characteristics: size 7 1/2, 3 1/2 inch stiff brim, 4 5/8" depth. Seemed to want a simple bash with front sides poked in:

Sweet hat Scott. Whats in the center of the star?

Tough to tell - the gold is flaking off, and it's on a rough surface. But I think it's "M" and "H"

But the Boss of the Plains star logo as it appears on page 35 of that book isn't the same.

Right - I think mine is a store logo. But interestingly, on page 73 a BOP hat is shown and it has the same "The Fray" sweatband as mine.

Outstanding hat.:eusa_clap :eusa_clap How's open crown look(on the head)?

Thanks. In my opinion it looks good, but I probably won't be wearing it around town any time soon, at least not until my handlebar mustache grows out.

I have an 1890's(original vintage) black outfit formerly used in reenactments and the Tombstone movie...don't know if its your size though.

That's a beauty Buler. I'm not sure I've seen that type of size tag before. I've seen round, but don't recall ever seeing that bumpy edge. What size is it?

Hi Dinerman, thanks! I went back to the original pic and cropped and rotated... looks like 7 1/8 to me.
