Bought this a few days ago from a local antique 'Clock and Barometer Shop'. It is a presentation clock, presented to mark 50 years service by a Great Western Railway Company railway worker from 1865 to 1915, so that gives a clue as to the clock age. The case is green onyx with gilt / gold leaf decoration, the clock mechanism made by Peerless of Germany, with a coiled gong strike.
It has been refurbished too, but it just awaits building of a much sturdier mantelpiece over the fire, it weighs a ton! (well not literally, but you know what I mean... )
The green is much deeper and richer than in the photo, I cannot get my camera to show it's proper colour.
