Welcome to the Powder Room and Beauty Sections of the Fedora Lounge, the web's leading discussion boards for the fashions and lifestyle of the Golden Era. We're happy to have you with us, and would like to take a few moments to tell you about what we do here and how you can get the most out of your experiences.

****First things first, drop a hello in our introduction thread.****

1. Men are not permitted to post in the Powder Room or its Beauty sub-forum. Posts by male Loungers will be deleted without comment, regardless of content.

2. We encourage free discussion of any women's-oriented subject in our corners of the Lounge, but if your topic is suited to a mixed audience, we encourage you to explore the general-interest sections of the Lounge.

3. Our focus here is specifically the 1930s and 1940s, but in general practice we extend this backward thru the 1920s and forward to the early 1960s, so essentially any discussion focusing on the period between the end of the First World War forward thru the JFK era would be considered on-topic for our purposes. Occasionally we dip into pre-WW1 topics as well, but generally we *don't* delve into the hippie-era '60s or forward into the 70s and 80s -- with the exception that the "vintage revival" styles of those eras *are* on topic.

4. Please keep in mind that we're a diverse group here, with many different approaches toward our interest in the Era. Some confine their interests to the fashions, others are interested in household accoutrements, and still others pursue a vintage-oriented lifestyle. There's room for all of those interests here, so please be considerate in your comments to others who might not share your specific interests. Also, please keep in mind that we have all ages posting here, from teens to seniors, and we ask that the the conversation, the language, and the pictures be kept PG-oriented.

5. Unlike a lot of boards around the internet, here at the Lounge we *encourage* members to dig deep and bring old threads back to the top when there are new questions or new information to add. We take pride in the Lounge's reputation as a quality resource for vintage topics, and we urge you to search first if you're looking for something specific.

To keep things organized, the Bartenders will often merge newly-created threads or blocks of posts into earlier threads dealing with similar topics. If this happens to your thread, consider it your addition to a valuable archive of vintage information!

To make our search system work more effectively, please use descriptive language in titling your threads. For example, "A Question about heel height in late '30s shoes" is a much more searchable title than "Shoes Question."

For your convenience, we've gathered together some of the most-often-searched-for information into several master threads, which you'll find at the bottom of this post. It's always a good start to your information search to check these first -- and if you have information to add to these threads, by all means do so.

6. Photo posting is encouraged, especially when it illustrates a specific point under discussion. Please note that Lounge's photo posting capability requires that you host your photos at a website, either your own or a photo-hosting service such as Photobucket or Flickr.

Please be aware that, because we don't actually host the pictures, the Lounge can't control what happens to your photos once you've posted them here. They could end up posted on other boards, in blogs, or anywhere else on the Net without your consent, for purposes you might not appreciate. Therefore, we advise you use discretion when sharing photos of yourself or friends -- we aren't responsible for where they might end up.

7. Private messaging privileges (PMs for short) are activated once you've accumulated at least fifteen posts as a Lounge member.

8. The Bartenders are here to ensure that the PR/Beauty rooms remain a friendly, informative resource on all things Golden Era, so if you have any concerns or comments feel free to PM us. Be patient if you dont get an immediate reply -- we *will* get back to you!

9. Please keep in mind that the Lounge maintains certain rules governing advertising privileges, and signature links containing ads are not allowed. If you have an Etsy shop you'd like to advise members about, feel free to post it in our stickied Etsy link in the PR. If you have something you'd like to sell member-to-member, please post in the Classified section of the Lounge.

If you're interested in Vendor status or other commercial benefits of Lounge sponsorship, please contact The Man himself, MK, for further information.

For additional policies of the Fedora Lounge, please read the main forum's FAQ.

Thanks for your attention -- and enjoy!
