Joe and Marcel @Pellie, according to the Hatted Professor, this Cavanagh is probably from the early 50s.

https://www.thehattedprofessor.com/datecavanagh.html
Ah yes…. I had that confused. Thanks Steve. The street address was changed in the 40s. But They added the third line New York and changed John Cavanagh to Cavanagh Hats in the 50s. I Had thought this was also when they did away with the street address…. But probably mid 50s for that change. so probably looking at early 50s on Marcel’s hat As you said.

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Pra Velour" "Bockmeiers Edelvelour", 56 cm, possibly later 1930s. This is a new JHS Velour type, "Pra Velour" "Edelvelour". "Pra" and "Edel" have similar meanings in Czech and German. Possible this was something special for Josef Bockmeier (Passau) since it's "Bockmeiers Edelvelour". The black Velour is of very high quality and is more closely cropped with high gloss. The Velour is very pliable and easily dry creases. Also, an interesting criss cross liner design. Always nice to find something new.

Thanks, gents! @The Shoe, I'll probably post something in the WHAYWT thread a bit later. I received a couple compliments on it yesterday at a taproom I like to frequent. I suspect it will be popular here since the University of Notre Dame is nearby.
That’s a beauty, Jonathan

I will not mention the colour ;), but Biltmore sure made a fine looking velour there.

Love that one, and it’s a real “Jonathan hat”. It‘s like it was made with you in mind. I can just imagine it with some of those spectacular jackets you wear.

The Swedish Top Hats have finally arrived.

Before anyone rolls their eyes, Gary @The Shoe , it's Matt @Mean Eyed Matt 's fault for introducing me to the Swedish auction site where these were sold

More to come in the Toppers Unite thread.

I honestly believe some sellers do packing like this on purpose. NO-ONE can really think that was a good idea lol

Nice Bantam, Marcel, and nice resurrection. It's amazing what steam will do.

I’ve long admired Gary’s @The Shoe Custom V so happily grabbed this one, but suspect they don’t share much except a name. It’s an unusual hat—my first real heathered felt and very thick and soft and wooly, like a cross between a fedora and a blanket. It’s in very good condition and a handsome bluish gray felt. It took a lot of steam to get anything like a real crease in it and the brim definitely has a mind of its own. Seems like the kind of hat you’d put under the tree for dad along with a new pipe and some slippers—cozy and casual.
Cheers,

David
