Carl Ceschka Wien, Back Bow, 58 cm possibly 1920s. I think this might be what was called an Artist's Hat / Künstlerhut based on the wide 3.5 inch brim (just don't see brims this wide). The black Velour is of very high quality with very high gloss. I couldn't locate a paper label and didn't want to disturb the sweatband too much. Carl Ceschka Wien hats are not very common plus the unusual wide brim makes it a special find.

Borsalino sold by Bubani in Ravenni 1976 in the color Argento.
The hat came in like a disaster, so needed a lot of steam. Finally it turns out like a very well Borsalino :) View attachment 637224 View attachment 637225 View attachment 637226 View attachment 637227 View attachment 637228 View attachment 637229 View attachment 637230 View attachment 637231 View attachment 637232 View attachment 637233
Cool find, Marcel. I would have guessed it older than it actually is. Probably because of that nice wide ribbon.

I’ve been on the wagon for most of the year—bought myself a Whippet for my birthday but that’s it. Until a couple weeks ago. I’ve always wanted a dove gray 1930s fedora with a 2” ribbon and raw edge—as seen in movies like The Thin Man and different Cagney and Gary Cooper films, and also familiar from pictures of the Depression and WPA. Anyway—I saw this and couldn’t resist. Just arrived today and I’m thrilled. It’s also my first English hat. Nice thick felt for keeping off the rain and fog. Now back on the wagon for me!
Cheers,

Well if you are going to fall off the wagon it might as well be for a fine hat like this. Scott&Co made some wonderfull hats. A beauty!

Great googly moogly!!! I should have trusted the camera, and not my own eyes, as the camera wasn’t fooled by all the smoke in our skies of late.

The Stetson Westerner IS navy blue!!! Wore it outside today, in clean, clear skies, and it was quite obvious. BONUS!!!

An excellent first English hat, David. Well worth falling off the wagon for.

The King referred to would be George VI who reigned from late 1936 to 1952. The shape and style of the hat definitely place it in the 1930s/40s era.

After his death Scott & Co were hatters to George VI's daughter and new queen, Elizabeth II.

Lock & Co took over Scott & Co in 1969.

Just some useless hat history for anyone interested :)

What a great hat!
With my eyes squinted and my head greatly tilted you even look like Gary Cooper!

Hey, lengthy wagon rides are a bore anyway.

Don’t know a thing about this foreign hat, except it looks great and is well made.
Jonathan says it’s probably something Steve and Stefan @Steve1857 @steur could shed light on.
