It is a great hat this Barbisio Cervo, but unfortunally way too small for me (size 55). The seller didn't know the size, but measured wrong i think. Stuff happens, so this one is for sale ..

My first Royal De Luxe — wow what a difference in the felt. Just love the feel and the colors of this hat.

Unfortunately the 2.25 brim is much smaller than I thought from the pictures. Also, despite a 1/8 tag it feels more like a 7 that has been stretched halfway up a size. Overall — especially from the side— it looks like a stingy brim and feels tight and sits high on my head, so not what I was hoping for and I’m not sure I’ll hold on to it.

If anyone has a similar 7 1/8 Royal De Luxe with larger proportions they are thinking about letting go—let me know!;)

Cheers,

David

How about a Dobbs Twenty:

Its more substantial winter weight if that makes a difference.

Can't go wrong with an Echter Mayser, Marcel (unless it's the wrong size of course:().

My Hornskovs arrived yesterday. Etsuko hid the Christmas one away before I got home from work. I’m really happy with the Mogul. My first Hornskov (the wool one) was a 59 and I felt it was just a little tight. My second, a Broker, was 59 1/2 and after wearing it a while, I decided the 59 was actually the better fit (as it should be - my head measures about 58.7) and I’ve put a little padding under the sweat band of the Broker. This time, I went back to size 59, but told him I was a long oval. Bingo! Clearly my best fitting hat - just perfect! The beaver, bunny blend felt is excellent - a little softer than my 100% beaver and beautiful to the touch. And the hatband is grosgrain.
Bring on Christmas!

Very nice, Gary. Excellent shape to that hat.

This just arrived. I’m not really a bowler guy, but I couldn’t pass this up at the price. View attachment 385959 View attachment 385960
There are some issues with the reed and the sweat stitching has separated in places, but the sweat itself is pretty soft and pliable. I’ll post more pics in the bowler thread.
That's how it usually begins:). Nice catch and if you're into hats, you do need a bowler.

Stetson 3X: 2 3/4” raw edge brim and 5 3/4” open crown:

Very cool Brent. Nice find!

Wonderful heather felt and a great shape to it!

Classic style and colours. Solid hat.

Such a shame about the size, Marcel. Happens to us all (more than once probably). Really cool looking hat though.

Stetson Sovereign. I really like my black Sovereign, so brown is a must have :) Pictures from the seller....

Looks good, but it has to feel right as well. Otherwise it will be a benchsitter.

Well just before Thanksgiving I had a Wolfbrae nutria show up and now just before Christmas a new Gannon has arrived. I am thinking this may be my new holiday tradition.

That's a good tradition for any other holiday as well! Fine looking hat.

Barbisio fedora in grey. Colour is called Egeo (Aegean) on the label. With such a name I'd expect a more pronounced blue tone to it, but it is a more neutral, lighter grey. Bound brim at 6,7cm and the crown at 10cm at the front. It seemed to want a more diamond shape to it (or chicken foot; whatever you prefer), so that's what it got. Weighs 103 grams. The felt is dense and thin with a nice hand to it. Superb Barbisio quality.

Stetson Royal in 7 1/8 US that sure looks like a Whippet, but there’s no Whippet markings. 5 1/2” open crown and 2 5/8” bound edge brim. A bit of verdigris that doesn’t make it through to the outside, and some foxing on the liner. The sweatband and reed looks great, but several stitches let go when I flipped the sweatband down. :(

My guess is early to mid 1950s, but it’s just a guess.
