If I were any happier, I may be arrested! This has been on my list for a long time. 3"x6", my favored dimension. I can see why this is a sought after model. The felt is beautiful and and thin. It will easily take a recrease, and the small spot on it will be easily removed. I think the box is called the Betsy Ross House. I'll have to research this. My thanks to Brent@ deadlyhandsome, for giving me first shot at this one! Knowing that I did not have one , and wanted one, he sold it to me at an exceptional price! Thanks again Brent!

I promised more hats, so here's another one.
T&W Lees Plymouth in black. Size 57 with the bound brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. This could work as a fedora too, but I don't think it was meant that way. Do I really need another black fedora? Of course not, but I'm a fan of T&W Lees hats, so if I find one, I bring it home with me.

Barbisio in a size 57 (it's a bit roomy for me). Can't tell you the colour name, because there are no labels at all inside the hat. Overwelt edge at 6,5cm and crown at 11,5cm at the center dent. It's a substantial hat. I think it's late forties, early fifties maybe, but that's just based on the liner, which I think is a later style for Barbisio. The felt has a nice hand and takes any shape you want with no effort at all. Barbisio at the top of its game.

Last one for today. Nice mixed heather felt hat of a brand unknown to me.
Grey Lord's Hat Extra in a size 55 (took a little nudge to fit me). Raw edge brim with a triple row of stitching at 5cm and the crown is 10cm at the center dent. No labels inside the hat, but I think it could be Italian (the dealer on the sweatband is certainly a clue:)). And it reminds me of my Barbisio Artiné. To point out the difference between top brands making mixed heather felts and this one: the felt feels a bit more lumpy and the hand is not as soft. Still a nice little hat and who's complaning; I paid €5 for it.

This WWII era Karl Misik (Kami) arrived today. I bought it off Alan, who originally got it via Steve's Czech haul back in 2015.

It has a very soft, grey heather felt which, by the feel of it, suggests some wool content.

It fits very nicely.

Steve has more info about Kami on his germanaustrianhats site.

I'm not as good a photographer as Alan, who is, but I hope I've done the hat justice.

Thanks as well to Alan for the Borsalino coffin box.

Very nice, Steve. Quite a stylish hat. I particularly like the the crown and texture. It appears the Kami has found the perfect home.

A steal at €5, Stefan. Despite the quality issue, it looks like a nice hat. There's just something about grey heather that attracts the eye.

Second hat arrived today, and first, night and day difference in packing:
View attachment 173682
The hat was properly packed in a hat box and taped shut, then surrounded by moulded styrofoam (like new electronics), and placed inside this massive shipping box. Additional gaps were filled with loose stuffing. Hands down the best treatment I've ever seen, so kudos to the seller.

And now, for the hat:

Clocking in at a 4" brim it just meets @Joao Encarnado's minimum requirements, but it's easily the biggest in my humble collection. Stands 5" tall in the front at the base of the center crease, and sports a two-ply black ribbon. Haven't made my mind up on the feather but I'm actually leaning towards keeping it right now.

And now for moment of truth:

Brim is a little wonky and will need a bit of reshaping, but all in all I like it. Part 2 regarding the story associated with it to follow below.

I’m not a cowboy guy, but I appreciate hats and that lid is great. I am so glad it came to you in perfect form. Enjoy it’s bad mama jama!

I stopped into Greely Hat Works and couldn’t help but make an off the shelf purchase.
Very cool shop with very nice employees!
They are a full custom operation but sell a lot of premade straws too. Off the shelf hats “have been used in photo shoots, etc.,” and I tried a couple I really liked, and left with a hare’s felt Western homburg that fit nearly perfectly until he steamed it to perfection for me!
Granite Grey with matching ribbon and bound edge. You can see a tack stitch here and there, but the most interesting part is that it appears shaped backwards from what I would normally do. That is to say the dent is lower in the back, and the brim dip is as well, but it’s very subtle and I know I’m going to enjoy this one!
I almost went with this little beaver topper but I think I made the right choice.
Ok pics:

Great looking hat Jeff! I really like the one you left behind ... perhaps you're taking a route that might allow you to go back and get it (although shipping is probably cheaper than gas).

I’m with you, Bob I liked that one too! A hat like that one won’t stay there that long.
