Wonderful hat, Max. The homburg virus is taking hold (good!).

Two hats finally arrived from California via Brent.

The Danish Customs and Excise decided to kidnap them, but I've now payed the ransom fee, and the hats are now safely in my possession [emoji4]

Brent posted them when they were originally up for sale, but now you can see how they look on my head. Don't blame the hats if you don't like the look [emoji23]

The first one is what I call a funky Borsalino. Very modern. The colour, style, and stitching on the crown appealed to me as soon as I saw it. It's not a high quality Borsa, but it is unusual and perfect for Jazz concerts. I just had to have it in my collection.

The brim works both up or down.

Thanks Brent.

Borsalino Gran-Lusso Superiore, fairly light weight with soft and maluable felt and bonded edge.
Turned this one into a telescope crown / Pork Pie.
In color "Argento" with "Urania" ribbon; no model name, just a form/model number "K2862" (following the tag description as discussed before).
I estimate late 50's to early 60's.
I have another Borsalino with the identical form/model number, with is actually very similiar to this one, except for different colors and the crown style I applied.

I like it!
Can you show us how it looks with a raincoat?
What about a super hero outfit and a cape?

Geeze. I feel like a real schmuck sharing my crooked, frowning selfies after seeing you showcase your hats.

Nice work on the telescope. How high is the crown, open?

Danish customs.
Isn't Denmark where a lot of hillbilly, third cousins to Swedes live?
Don't all of your beautiful hats and clothing get mussed up out on the street? That's a sharp pocket kerchief, or square, that your sporting, Steve. I hope nobody grabs it to clean their nose.
:-O

You're a smart man pulling the trigger on that pair. I particularly like the Borsalino because my grey Homburg gets jealous if I rubber neck any other ones.

I got that Dane thing out of my system. I had to do it for my deseased grandfather's sake.

Swedes love coming to Denmark to buy booze. Otherwise, no hillbillies here [emoji6]

Just a couple of quick and dirty pics of my newly unboxed Texas Hatters Hi Roller in dark blue. I did not expect this to fit, but it does! There is no hat band as it was just some chicken pluckings strung together.

Mayser "Stella Steif Federlicht / Stiff Feather Light" made for Huthase / Hat Hare, 58cm, 155 grams, possible 1930s. I was lucky because I noticed there was a lot of padding behind the sweatband. Also figured it was made by a high quality company which also turned out to be correct. This is a really fantastic Fur Felt (Haar.filz) Stiff Felt made by Mayser Ulm. I really like the dimension and form. The sweatband leather is especially nice and the fit is perfect. Huthase had stores in Dresden, Chemnitz, and Leipzig.

Really really nice. I like how creative derbies get with liners and sweatband markings. That one is super cool!

While I was out on my exercise ride this morning I stopped at my favorite thrift and got a couple of hats. First a cheapo straw

Seems a bit unusual to find a thin ribbon with a 2 1/4" brim.

Have some good hat hunting,
Michael

Love that Amish look, man. Also, I had a wide country once, and if it wasn’t a size too big I would have kept it. One of the finest vintage hats and with an exemplary hand.

The second hat from Brent is in a totally different league from the modern Borsalino.

A Knox Superfine Homburg. The quality of this hat speaks for itself. Its dimensions and proportions are, what I would call, so American. High crown, wide oval brim, eye catching semi wide ribbon, and large bow all add to the eye catching qualities of this Knox.

Flip it over and the inside of this Homburg just attest to the super nature of its workmanship. Even the logo of the Hat Shop I presume it was sold in stand out.

You got a lot of hat for your $12.50 back then. I'm presuming 1950s. Knox experts, please feel free to put me right.

All in all, I couldn't be happier.

Again, thanks Brent.

Thanks Jeff. I was happy to find out that the Amish straw was up to a little bicycle riding. I have it on now in prep for a short ride in the heat. When I was searching for info on the Wide Country I ran across your classified for yours. Bummer it was too big. It is a very finely finished felt.

Thanks,
Michael

Oh crazy! I didn’t even think that the listing would still be there. I seem to recall the felt having a particularly attractive sage content in the silver belly. Very cool hat!
