Thanks guys. I've been looking for a grey Milan for a while. Thought about getting Bob Jessie to make me one, but I was indecisive and missed his order deadline.

No problem though - I'll be enjoying wearing this one during the summer.

Thank you for the reception of the Mossant. Truly a great lid!

David, you sure have a sweet collection of summer hats. If only I could follow your lead, and focus on straws, and not the felts (espically since we should hit 102 on Saturday).

Perry - I don't think you could ask for more in a hat. That lid suits you perfectly! Keep on' smilin' with that Stetson on your noggin!

NOS/Dead Stock

Pre-1907 L. Greentree's (seller said they may be 1890s, as most items from the store were 10-20 years older than it's closing in 1907).

Both are size 7, so they will be posted in the classifieds as a hopeful trade for a 7 1/8.
Both hats are moth-nibble free, which is amazing for 100+ years of life. Also, they are black in color.

The first hat is in immaculate shape for it's age. No popped stitches, pliable sweatband, etc.

The Second hat is not as good, condition wise. There are stains, and the ribbon is torn a bit at the rear of the hat. No popped stitches, and the sweat is pliable. The sweatband logos look to have silver foil in them.

Cheers, Sir Richard of Kent, Hatto, Splintz.

Hatto - does the RS have a ribbon or is is really thin so it doesn't show isn't the photo.

Splintz - nice find. That first one looks to be in fantastic shape.

I made an effort over this winter to get a couple more straws - I really don't need any more felt hats although I still grab one I like from time to time.

In the warmer months, a light straw hat is much more pleasant to wear than a felt I find, although here in NH it is often cool enough for a lightweight felt in the mornings and evenings.

Thrift shop find for a melon head!!! A Biltmore Senator in 7-7/8.

This one was waiting for me at an antique/used stuff shop. Except for one well-hidden and thus quite tolerable moth pit - perfect!

I am proud to present my new Straw / Felt conversion! I thought it's time for a nice Summer hat. This is a projekt that was in my mind a long time, now I made it!

Geez, I have a few "new" hats for me, Milan hats, mostly purchased from fellow loungers, but, today my dear Wife shows me a really great vintage find on eBay she just purchased for me, something to add to my collection....

This will be interesting to see about when it was made, I am not seeing the plastic liner in the inside at the top of the hat, so, maybe I am lucky and it will be a bit older than the one I have now, not sure until I get it "home"...

I am sure you are more than likely correct on the dating of this Strat, my other is perhaps a bit newer, but is a clean hat. Yep, I am so very lucky for my Wife, she is so wonderful I love her to death!
