GO, JOE!! Great hat at a really great price. Hard to be sure from the photos (I was watching this one) but it appears to be leghorn weave done in the mid-to-late fifties. As always, maybe a more expert set of eyes can confirm or clarify this....

I have a Leghorn at home with a similar weave.

picked up two caps from Goodwill tonight.
first:

union label:

And this really unusual suede cap:

label:

front button:

I was surprised to see the union label on the corduroy cap because it looks so new, but I read that they used it up to 1983. So it's not very old after all. The strange suede cap with skier button has an older looking union label.

Any information anyone may have about these would be greatly appreciated!

Thats the nicest thing i've heard in awhile !

I rather like that Akubra John. I have to check the colours they make them in.

For a while I've been thinking that one of those little Rum Diary style milans would be a nice change of pace for the warmer weather.

Fashion Frank would be proud of me since I sniped this one for $13 shipped.

Not seen Frank for a while - hope he's OK.

Hey DJH , thats the nicest thing that I have heard in awhile , it's really nice to have people remember you
when your not around .
Yes I am very proud of you ,and further more its just proof that sniping really works, I just sniped a very rare book about Vikings that I have wanted to get for a long time and I just hung in there til the last second when everyone else had given up and I scored.

I must admit that I got a little downhearted at having my chain yanked on here so I gave it a rest for awhile
and I also have been trying to learn some new bagpipe tunes that the band is working on so between the two I haven't been around.

This was the last straw that I bought also sniped ,I was trying to find a photo that I took of a lot of 8 hats all straw that I also sniped for some crazy number under $20.00 but I could not find the photo.

All the Best ,Fashion Frank

P.S. DJH, thanks again for thinking of me and the kind words ,your a class act !

Frank, was beginning to miss your posts! Great lookin' hat!

Bert, that one looks great on you!

Today, I recieved 4 hats, and one very old stetson box. All hats are going to be for sale, once I learn a bit more about each...

Here is a quick photo I took before my camera died. I will post photos of each hat tomorrow. From left to right, the hats are: Continental Clothing House (Unknown Vintage, Left), 1920s/30s Stetson Select (top Middle), Stetson 4x Beaver (bottom Middle), and a Trade One (unknown vintage, Right), all sitting on the 1920s(?) Stetson Box, which will soon house the Expo Medal Stetson that is on it's way.
