Late 60's belted-back sportcoat from Spain. With the shoulder yoke, the belt that's only sewn on to the side-seams of the jacket and the center vent it reminds me a lot of old German belted-backs. I removed the pocket flaps and even though the center vent was quite common on older German jackets I'm pondering the possibility of having it closed.

Yes, they're leather-bound. As it happens it's a detail I'm not particulary fond of myself, I prefer them stitched. It wasn't really possible to make out in the original photos and it wasn't mentioned in the listing either. I don't think there's anything I can do about it as the construction is rather elaborate.

Thanks. :)

It's the next best thing to the real McCoy - and as I can't seem to find any originals, I have to, at least for the time being, resort to...er...what's the proper term here? Surrogate or vicarious satisfactions? ;)

The two you have are very nice though, especially the second one. Should you ever decide that they're not authentic enough for you then please let me know. ;)

Together with Janet I once bought a bunch of "Schneidermeister" magazine on the fleamarket. The new batch (including this picture) is coming from a friend who is rather forum-shy and not a member here or in the other one. He doesnt't own a scanner so he asked me if I wanted to lend a part of his collection. :D

Some mothbites and quite a lot of dust. Will need to tactfully take in the waist but otherwise the fit is perfect...

Cool suit, Sproily. But is it younger than 1930s?

This is an excellent misunderstanding. I suspect sproily has read the thread title "Post '30s belt-back jackets and suits" not as: use this thread for belt back jackets and suits produced after ["post"] the 1930s, but rather as : post [show] your 1930s belt back jackets and suits.

Both interpretations of the title are accurate! Don'tcha just love the nuances of the English language? All, however, is remedied by altering the thread title to "Post-'30s". Then there is no ambiguity.
