My wife and I took the dog for a walk through Prospect Park in Brooklyn last night, and I saw four guys wearing straw porkpies, and one guy with a straw stingy. Ironically, I had passed over my Biltmore that I usually wear there, in favor of the Stylemaster.

In the adjoining neighborhood (where we live), I would say the ratio of porkpies to fedoras in straw is at least 3 or 4 to 1.

It is always good to see men wearing decent headwear.
I expect to see more stingy brim hats because I frequently read how men are intimidated by the brim length on an older style fedora.
Any style hat is refreshing compared to a b-ball cap. ;)

Porkpie hats are very popular in our stores . Even though a few companies make them , Biltmore is the best of the bunch . We have them in straw and felt from Biltmore and we are always filling in stock every few weeks .

Porkpies aren't my thing. It's something about those hats that makes my stomach turn. I can see how wider-brimmed fedoras can be intimidating, though. Perhaps it reminds the Average Joe of the mafiosos?
