I'm about to get dressed for my wedding reception ((shudder)) and I just realized that I never considered if I should have a pocket square or not.
The suit is a 1930's double breast with giant lapels.
This is it:

The breast pocket is almost completely covered by the lapel, so do I need one? This is obviously a formal occasion, so SHOULD I have one regardless?
Oh, and I'm not wearing a flower.

I happen to be attending a wedding this evening too.

A pocket square is not really necessary. If you do choose to wear one, maybe place it discreetly in the pocket to look like an accessory and not a distraction. Some guys hang a yard of material out of the breast pocket. It's a subjective call I guess..
Btw, what shirt and tie combo are you wearing with that?

I'm wearing a white 1940's repro dress shirt from El Pachuco (that I believe our own Resortes helped design) that has a great pointy collar, and a modern tie that has the same color blue that the bride has in her dress.
We got a few inches of snow up here this morning, so I'm wondering how many cancellations we're going to get. Ugh.

You could wear the pocket square the same way Sean Connery's bond does, folded into a square and put in the pocket so that only about 1cm shows, running paralle to the pocket. That should work better with your jacket than having a peak.

I say wear the square, too.

What's the material on that dress shirt? Is it 100% cotton? Are you impressed by the overall quality of it?

Just got home! What a great time!!!!
The shirt is great...it's the same cotton/ poly blend you'd get with a Van Heusen shirt, but so much cooler because of the collar. I got compliments all night! It really makes your tie knot look perfect.
