Hi all,
I'm really new here and I woke up this morning to something I never saw before while I was lurking. Quite a lot of the images in the Fedora Lounge are turning up with the above image instead. It's not just in the Lounge itself, it's also on a Google Image search for Lounge shots, and it's images I know I've seen before. Plus, the correct image will appear in the Google Image search results but when I click to enlarge it I get this instead. Anybody know if this is a failure on the part of my device (Apple iPad) or if there's something out of my control going on?

Thanks for any help here!

Nathan

It is the soon to be completely irrelevant and obsolete, company Photobucket, attempting to force people to pay for their service. They updated their terms of service on the 28th which made all free accounts unable to share their images on websites. They want a monthly fee.

Deleted my photo bucket account for this very reason. Plenty of other free image sites that don't bombard you with advertisements to the point where the site is almost completely non-functionable in order to annoy you to the point of paying for an upgrade.

I don't have a photobucket account. I've never used them, however some images from Fedora Lounge connect over there. Maybe they're now blocking all the images stored in their server from the Lounge? That's why I wonder if anybody else has seen this lately or if I should reboot my iPad to eradicate any potential viruses.

It has nothing to do with the fact you don't have a photo bucket account. Many posts are still displaying a photobucket image.

Any image that connects to Photobucket on any website anywhere will be affected. It has nothing to do with your iPad.

Thank you, Imperator, that's what I needed to hear. I sure hope the Lounge doesn't suffer from this - already I can't access some of the images I was using to research new bashes, ribbons, etc.

I used to use Flicker, which works fine and is free. I just upload images that have been resized to about 450x450. Of course I do everything in photoshop and upload them from my hard drive. I just can't get my Samsung to take a decent selfie. I should have a teenager show me how.

Yes, it is a shame. I just went looking for an image of a hat that was among the missing and saw this was an issue. I use a paid photo hosting site for all my images and although I don't post many photos here, many of them are hot linked to other forums, especially photography forums.

I have several, very old pictures on my site that I leave there, so they will remain posted in the many old threads on several forums.

Even that is not foolproof though. If the photo hosting site goes under, I can upload those pictures to another, but the links to those threads are lost forever. I've learned one thing about computers and the internet. Nothing is permanent.

If you posted pictures in the past from your photobucket account, all is not completely lost. You can still access your account and download your pictures. I'm working on that for mine now. If you posted a photobucket picture link in a thread, you can click on the "missing" photo and see the photobucket image link value and match it with the one from your account. I have hundreds of photos posted in the hats section from my account and it will take a lot of time and effort to try to replace them. My plan is to start with the threads I feel are most important and try this replace method. It's going to be painful, but I remember a photo site in the past that did a similar change, but they locked you out of any access to your photos until you paid a "ransom".

I'm hoping that many of the most popular (and historically important) threads will be salvaged. Fingers crossed.

I started using Tapatalk for the first time and it's great. You are able to post photos from your phone's image gallery or new photos you take from your phone right into the reply. No 3rd party image hosting site needed.

True but, they all are extremely sloooooooow when uploading photos, some don't allow multiple images either.
