Please Help Identify These Trousers

On my recent trip to eastern Canada, I found these trousers in a wonderful vintage clothing store in Almonte, Ontario (alas, I've forgotten the name so I can't give them an official plug, but the shop is across the street from the old Post Office building if you're ever in Almonte). The trousers are the first vintage clothing item I've ever bought in an actual vintage clothing store (I usually do my hunting in thrift shops).

I'd appreciate any thoughts on the date and whether or not they're meant to go with a morning outfit or are just plain ol' striped trousers.

They're heavy, smooth-finished wool, straight legs, no cuffs. Button fly, rear braces buttons on the outside, front buttons on the inside. The only label is the one shown below.

They went with a morning outfit, nothing else. I can't accurately tell the date without seeing the entire trouser -- including the leg. (This kind of wool stripe fabric has been used for morning trousers since the 19th century, and is still produced in England.)

I'll post a shot of the entire trousers as soon as I can get my wife to shoot a couple of pix.

Looks like I'm going to have to start hunting for the rest of the outfit. At least I've got a proper top hat...

Nice thing about morning dress is that you can put it together piecemeal. Evening dress, what with that whole thing about trousers and coat both being black, is much more difficult, in my experience!

Of course, there's always at least one to be found on evilBay, in my size, whenever I don't have the money to bid on it! ;)

Here are a couple of pix of the trous in their entirity. The seat is a bit baggy on me and will have to be tailored to fit right, but an otherwise good fit (and yes, I know it's not the proper shirt but I had it on at the time and didn't feel the need to change just for the photo).

lucky you!

I've been looking for a pair of morning trousers on the cheap for many a month now. I *did* get lucky with the morning coat (dated 1953 J Press) so I shouldn't complain. If you ever find another pair...

I have a pair (I think) that I purchased recently. Not thinking they were morning trousers, I had fake cuffs put on them, but those could be easily taken out (I would do so myself, if I were keeping them, as they're a smidge short on me).

What are your dimensions? These are roughly 37-38 in the waist and 30 or a little under in the inseam.

Building the morning outfit...

Just nailed this 1931 bespoke waistcoat on eBay for 4.44 GBP. It's not without a few flaws, but I think I can bring it back to wearable condition, particularly since much of it will be covered by the coat (which I have yet to find).
