Pin holes?

I have a hat with a little hole like a pinhole.
It's not a moth bite- it's tiny, like what you'd
get if you put a pushpin through the felt of a
hat. I suspect someone put a pin in it, but who knows.
I certainly don't recall doing it.

Anyway, I wonder if anyone has a suggestion on
how I might smooth over this hole? I have brushed
it and steamed it, but no luck so far. Surely there is
some way to loosen up the felt and fill in the hole?
I guess I could glue it from the back, but it might
be visible...

Thanks.

It's like "Cancer"

A hole is a hole is a hole. Not to be confused with the hat being "whole". It's not. You cannot "fix" a felt hat "hole". Not too deep moth bites can be brushed and picked to "fluff up". But the never really look the same.

A pin hole? Well I say you shouldn't worry as no one should be getting THAT close to your head to notice. Brush and steam, and hope for the best.

Call it ventilation if anyone asks. ;)

Steam, iron, and brush...

Well, it's a pinhole, but it sure won't be confused with
ventilation. Whatever caused it also warped the felt around it.
And of course it's in a very visible spot. I may experiment, and
take before/after pix.

So it's steam, iron, and brush, eh? I was thinking there might be
a way to use solvent or build up felt to fill the hole. But I can't
think of a way myself. All right, let's see what happens.

Thanks!

You can shave, scrape, fluff, glue.

Well, you CAN "shave" some felt fuzz from the underside of the hat, and glue it into the hole, possibly from the back side. This takes great skill. It still shows. But you can then brush and use a pin needle to "pick" the fur fibers up to hide the hole. I'd like to see a good picture of what the "hole" matter is about. ;)
