Look what the flying monkeys just dropped on my doorstep: it's the "Citation" fedora I won on eBay using Buy-It-Now.

The seller wasn't kidding: this hat really IS lavender. What a wild and crazy time the '40s was, eh? The brim is finished in silver grosgrain.

I'd date the fedora to 1945-'50. Looks like every lid worn by Richard Widmark in those noir movies of his. Judging by the quality of the lining, felt and sweatband, I'd say that it's a good to very good hat. Not mind-blowing, not top of the line, but very nice. It's definitely one of my better hats.

If anyone had told me a few years ago that I'd be wearing a lavender hat, well ... I would've decked him. lol

At last, some one else who has come across a Citation. I thought I was imagining it or something.

My one has an underwelt and seem to have no taper.

I also has the plastic headliner.

Mine had the plastic underliner, but apparently it became brittle and broke off long ago. There are still some tiny yellowed bits hanging onto the liner edge.

By the way, your Citation is incredible!

Jee, thanks Marc!
