Hello all,

Not sure if this is the place to pose this question, but here goes: I recently found an old khaki uniform shirt, probably WW2 or just post-war era. On the inside shirt waist is an extremely faint military spec stamp -- seems to either says 1945 or 1955. I can barely make it out in the daylight light, but I was wondering if there was a good way of taking a digital photo and then enhancing it in Photoshop (or another like program-PS is what I use) to read the text.

If anyone knows a good method I'm all ears! Thanks in advance.

I have had similar problems with khaki web belt insignias and I have had some success using Photoshop. Try:

image/adjustments/brightness/contrast slides to force the dark text out. You will need to experiment a bit.

You might also consider using: filter/sharpen/sharpen edges as well.
Please let us know how this works.

Post what you have and let us take a look at it. I'm not up on the shirts, but I would be surprised if it actually has the date in plain English like that. That would make it too easy for us to date!

Okay, here's the shirt in question. It's a very light khaki.

And here's the best adjust image of the inside shirt tail. I believe it says "September 1954" in the lower middle right part of the image

This is what it looks like w/o any adjustment
