Did women wear petticoats in the 1930's-1940's? I have my eye on some but am not sure about getting one. If this has been asked before feel free to merge the thread. I could not find it in the search box.

I tried looking for the movie but could not find it online to view it. However, I did find a wee bit of information on weikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petticoat The one thing I do not like about weikipedia is since anyone can ad their own information to the mix. Who knows if the imformation given is the correct information. Thanks for mentioning the film. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for it.

"Letty Lynton" is a 1932 Joan Crawford movie. She's lovely to look at in these early films. She wears a fuller skirt on a formal/party dress:

but her other dresses are the more form fitting, bias cuts of the 1930's. I don't think the fuller petticoats/crinolines came to be fashionable until the 1950's.:
