A recent release is the 2nd edition of the book "Fountain Pens Past & Present" which is an identification and value guide. Written by long time collector and writer Paul Erano.
It breaks the pens down into eras:
Early pens from the 1880' to 1919,
the Golden Age 1920 to1939ish,
and Modern 1940 and later.
Fountain pens and the early years of ball points were exciting and actally newsworhty topics. Some pens were so desired that the imitation of their form drove the industry.
As an introduction to pen designs and ages this is a fine book.
A serious collector will be happy to add it to his library, a new collector will find it most helpful.
Warmest regards and happy writing!
