Perhaps I'm more vintage looking than I think?

Had an interesting conversation with my 80 year old neighbor Charlie the other day. Now Charlie is a nice old fella who has lived in my street since the late forties, he always is keen for a chat when you walk by,he is an intelligent, articulate gentleman who fortunatly has all his marbles.
Ok, so I'm taking a stroll yesterday and I run into Charlie, he asked me about my 1957 Chrysler, what size engine, fuel consumption ..that sort of thing...ok here's the strange question "so Kooper have you had it since new"

Huh....1957.....I'm 34?????? Now I am concerned.....do I look really aged and haggard, or has my clothing completly thrown him?? Not sure, I really hope it's the clothes and hat!

Geez, that goes with my thread about the stupidest comment I ever heard. Does he realize how old you would have to be? At least 67 if you got it when you were 18. :eusa_doh: By your avatar, I would say that either you found the fountain of youth or the poor guy needs his eyes looked at. :D

Or it could have just been one of those brain slips (we have all had them) where he was thinking of himself as about your age, in his time, and figured you looked the part so well, that you were of the 50s.

Id take it as a compliment.

Emerson said that some thoughts always find us young. I guess your '57 Chrysler has that effect on your neighbor.

It's pretty funny really, at the time I just siad that I had bought it six years ago and before that had owned a 1960 FB Holden (aussie GM Car)
When I got home and thought about it more I just kept laughing.

As I get older (I'm a ripe old 45 now) I find myself forgetting that something I remember doing "not so long ago" was actually 10 or 20 years ago. Time flies.

I'm sure that 1957 sometimes feels like "just yesterday" to someone who's seen all those years.

Yeah, 1987 seems like yesterday for me. :eusa_doh: I can't be that old and Critel can't be putting out DVDs of the stuff I listened to in high school. [huh]

Interesting point, time does fly...I remember being shocked that I had known one of my best friends for some fifteen years now...it only seemed like yesterday I met Andy at a fifties diner in Brisbane, sometimes you can forget how old you are, I guess could be the case with Charlie

It's all your own fault, Koop

It's that grey cardigan, man. Even the 80-year-olds know that no one under 75 wears 'em!lol Of course he figures you gotta be his age. Has he worked out that Olivia is your baby and not your great-granddaughter yet?

You think that is bad? I have known a friend of mine since we were seven years old. I have known him Thirty years now! Imagine that.
Time really flies if you don't pay attention to it. I don't keep track of how old I am. I just tell people to ask my wife---she remembers. I just keep saying 29. :p

J
