I sat down tonight with a bottle of 12 YO Canadian Club, and watched this again for the first time since I saw it on the big screen upon release, which is the best part of 10 that's right 10, years ago.
You know, I was a film critic for a few years in a past life, and bugger me, as we say here, I could NOT find a flaw in it, direction/costume/acting/script/etc etc etc, just fantastic, and pretty much bloody flawless from all the aspects of film-making that I can comprehend, and it got me thinking, has there been a decent big budget hat movie since...and if not why not, I dunno....your thoughts!

I have it in DVD, but can't remember that much about it. Rewatch is in order it seems, indeed it is.

I enjoyed "Public Enemies" with Johnny Depp, they had some great hats in that one. I'm also enjoying Boardwalk Empire on HBO, plenty of good hats in that one.

Road to Perdition is a GREAT film. For me, it's tied with Miller's Crossing for the best thirties-set gangster film of the last twenty years.
