Hello everyone,

A question came up in the Classifieds. Is Marathon a line of hats Penny's sold..that came in varying styles. Or?

Thanks,

M

Several Styles

I've seen Marathons that looked like Whippets, (I think a lounger has one), and Jeff Bridges' hat in Seabiscut was a Marathon in a Stratoliner style, provided by the redoubtable Art Fawcett.

You know, I saw something like that on EBay, but with a much larger brim. I was going to pick it up but it hit the $30.00 mark and, well, that's kinda beyond my budget at this point.

Nice hat, though. I'd love to get my hands on one of those someday.

Just in case you were wondering...

Thought I would post the pic of the Marathon that prompted the question. Alas...too small for me.

Which of these 2 Marathon liners would be newer?
Maybe the Aridex tag would show the first one to be newer.

Also, I have seen The "M" liner in red, blue and gold. Would this be a method of rating quality?

Wow - I would have guessed the first one to be older. I'd stick with the RBH evaluation, though.

Thanks for the input guys.

In looking through some older threads where the Marathon comes up. It looks like the answer is in comments about the time frame of a hat where the photos are no longer visible.

I have a Johnnyphi Lee fedora that has similar swirl lines as the first liner. But, the second "M" liner seems to be the most asked about liner in the older comments I have found.
