I've got a rather authentic-looking (and feeling) pea coat. It has a U.S. Navy tag sewn into the quilted lining with a line to put name and rank. Double breasted and double vented, it also has Navy anchor buttons.
This is far and away the best jacket I've ever owned. Around campus I could turn up the collar against the cold and know that my coat was doing a better job of keeping out the wind and chill than those ridiculous ski jackets everyone else wears. The balance between style and functionality is often a tenuous one, at best. But the pea coat carries it off better than any other coat I've come across, save for perhaps a classic trench.
Anyone else out there have similar pea coat love?
