Parcel theft?

Now that's taking it a bit too far, really. I believe that something nasty is going on with the German parcel service. Three items I bought from the US Ebay (two pants, one pair of suspenders) never made it to me. They all just disappeared from the screen. Even a Christmas letter from my cousin in Dallas went missing (I guess someone hoped to find some money in it). Seems that around Christmas the number of 'lost' parcels goes through the roof, especially if they're coming in from the US. The only thing that got through was a nice 40's tie. Hooray!

I don't know how it is in Germany...but here in the Netherlands the parcel service is on strike! I am waiting for some ordered things, aswell..
I really hope, that eventually, your items will arrive!

A B!wear cap I ordered at the beginning of December arrived yesterday. A pair of made-to-measure trousers from the UK was lost in September. I hope for you it's just a delay.
But I do agree, the DHL is a pain in the ass.

The biggest problem I find with private couriers is getting the delivery. Typically, they don't give me any prior warning of delivery, simply trying to deliver during the day, Monday to Friday. The worst of it is that as I live in a block of flats, they have no access to put a note through my door - instead, they typically leave them lying around on the ground outside the building. More than once something i ordered has been returned to sender as I simply did not receive notification of the attempted deliveries. I am fortunate to have a couple of neighbours who are about a lot through the day and willing to take deliveries in for me, though it's hardly fair to expect them to do this regularly.

It's not really taking it too far! A couple of years ago I was waiting on a parcel. When time passed, I checked shipping etc and saw that it had been delivered and signed for. Well colour me surprised. When I asked for a copy of the signature, I realised that the person who signed for it didn't even spell my name right! Eventually the courier company admitted that the driver had been dismissed for theft, but declined to compensate me for the loss.

I'm battling with this tonight. I re-scheduled a delivery for Friday, when I was supposed to be home, but now I am going to have to work and they refuse to change the rescheduling. So I won't be getting my cat food. Fuzzbutt may riot. :(

If I'm not at home or when the delivery person happens to be too lazy to make it all the way to the second backyard, third story where I live, they usually leave the mail with the janitor (who's a really nice fellow).

Puuuh...what a relief!

One of the pants (40's greenish-gray drop loop pants) and the suspenders have arrived, hooray! Took them more than twice as long as usual to arrive here. Now I'll only need to be patient and wait for the 40's NOS white linen pants (theyl'll need some thorough cleaning to get rid of the storage dirt, so wish me luck!) and a nice pair of black J&M saddle oxfords (thanks to laotou!).

The pants:

Glad to hear your items arrived Mario - I'm still waiting on a box purse that arrived in Ireland on the 24th November. I've been onto An Post (our postal service) and after being fobbed off on e-mail and finally getting someone on the phone it was confirmed that the bag may be in London on it's way back to the seller in the US - I have no idea why. An Post were meant to call me today - still waiting for the call and confirmation of what's going on - dreadful service but no surprises there....

Oh my. I hope you'll get hold of your bag eventually.

I've just had my faith in our postal service restored a bit. I figure the delay was really due to the holiday madness in general and the crazed out winter in particular. Nevertheless two letters that were supposed have arrived well before Christmas have definitely gone lost.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for all the stray parcels out there... ;)

It is Christmas time after all. The postal services are inundated and the staffing, at least in the UK, is being cut to hell. You can't blame them for taking longer this time of year. In the UK, customs is also picking up more and more low value (though above the threshold) things as the government scraps to get as much money as they can out of average Joe. Oh(!) to be non-dom …
