On my panama:

At the edge of the brim where it's sewn, some of the weaving sticks out kind of messily.

Is there an easy/best way to get ride of that?

(I wish I had a camera to show you.)

Jack.

Well that's the final straw!

If you mean little sticks of the ends of the straw.........they are carefully trimmed with a razor blade...shaved off. Careful NOT to damage the backweave or the stitching if your had has that. (Cheaper hats are folded and sewn, more expensive Super Fino's are actually back woven to achieve a uniform crisp edge).

Hope this helped.

A $20.00 Montecristi has a backwoven edge...Heck a $2.00 Cuenca has a backwoven edge, too. The sewing seems to happen outside of Ecuador.

Andykev is correct, use a sharp razor blade to cut off the excess.
