I do think the consensus around these parts will be just as you said, buy it from Panama Bob and have it blocked by Art.

That was too rich for my blood, and I'm thrilled with my PB blocked in Ecuador. Of course if I had my druthers, though, like everyone else.......

I'm thinking about an optimo block Panama for the summer. How are the Cuencas from Bob--how do the different grades compare (ie, what's a good quality to price level on those)?

Well, I enjoy it quite a lot. After two years of wearing, it is in need of a cleaning, and more in need of a brim reflanging, as the front of the brim doesn't snap down like it used to. Therefore, it'll be off to Optimo pretty soon in anticipation of warmer weather.

Like RedPop said, your best bet is to either buy direct from Art and ask for a PanamaBob body, or buy the body from PanamaBob, and send it to Art to be made into a hat.

This hat is about 800 weaves per square inch, if I recall correctly, and it can be a bit hot in our steamy southern summer if worn outside when it's really hot and humid outside. That said, since you live in a more temperate isle, this weave would probably serve you well, Mr. H.
