I went to Camp Hollywood in 2000 (?) when it was held there, and it was a great floor. I was sad to hear that they weren't going to be holding the dances there anymore.

(Incidentally, that was the year that some of the classes were held in a "warehouse" on one of the TV studio back lots, and we were driven around on a double decker bus. Bizarre, but cool at the same time.)

Just read the LA Times article, I cannot imagine any of the current crop of singers to perform like they did back then. well maybe Harry Connick Jr since his act fits the era so well but not many others [to hard to lip sinc lol ]

And it's about time... the place needed a face lift. I went to Camp Hollywood there in 1998 and... well it's the place to go when you nedd a spot of dance.

That will be great to see it as it once was. and for the grand re-opening after the construction putting on the billboard the first nights sign with Tommy Dorsey and his Orchestra!

here is a friend of mine who watched the Palladium being built:

I'm sure they won;t go as far as restoring the floor to it's original , which was a Raised sprung floor with steps going up onto it. The Ladies used to place their purses under the floor around edges...

Anyone know of any groups that are working to make the Palladium an historic location? I didn't get involved with the Derby, but I'd like to help with this.
