Overcoat by GGG Clothes

Hey all,

I recently acquired this beautiful overcoat from a friend. It's made by GGG Clothes according to the label. I couldn't find much about GGG online, except that it seems to have been in NYC and taken over in/around 1977. I'd love to find out if this coat is from 1977 or earlier and if it's worth anything.

It's quite long, all black, Italian wool and cashmere. There are two cool labels inside about the fabric. The top label says Made in China. It looks brand new, it's in great condition.

I saw a few pieces of GGG on eBay but nothing like this coat. If it's worth something, I wouldn't mind selling it to help pay some bills. Otherwise I'll be happy just keeping it. Any help would be appreciated.

The GGG Clothes label still exists. The line is owned by Andre Romanelli, Inc., and has been since 1992.

Nice overcoat. I'd say that it's from the '90s.

Yep, Filenes Basement used to carry them at around $299, IIRC.

IMO not worth much. Maybe $20? Probably less. Would be better if it were 100% cashmere and not made in China.

Ah, makes sense. I didn't think it'd be that old since it was made in China and not Hong Kong or something. I appreciate the info guys.
