Other reputable jacket makers besides Aero?

Andrew what style of jacket are you after? What price do you want to pay and how long do you want to wait for it?

There are many options and they are all easily found on this site by reading.

I personally like Johnson Leathers in San Fran - they have made 3 jackets for me over the years. A bit cheaper than Aero and every bit as well made.

I really wish there was a good Australian maker still. Mars in Melbourne was fantastic, they made me many jackets from the 1980's to around 2005 but they have been bought by people with barely a clue who import poor jackets.

Walden Miller in Adelaide are pretty good but they have a poor website. I dropped by there and checked them out last year.

I’m sure there are some makers still around, I lifted this off a Australian leather jacket makers Facebook page, ok it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it does show there are still people here in Australia making leather jackets, I’m thinking this is a woman’s jacket? apparently real crocodile

Hmmm. I was referring specifically to makers of bike jackets in traditional patterns in 2.5oz to 3oz leather. Mars was similar to Aero in its range and materials and mix of vintage traditional patterns. I have looked for years and can't find a single maker left. We used to have three companies like Johnson Leathers in Melbourne alone.

Yes I remember Mars. I think I had a Brando style that was a present for me when I was a kid from Mars, it came from a bike shop in Elizabeth St. Unfortuately someone stole it.
But yes, they look like everything is imported from the same generic manufacturer in China now, the same as every other jacket I see for sale in Australia just about.

I reckon if a maker could get together 2 or 3 good, well made patterns here in Oz and carefully market them, they could potentially make it work.

I tired recently to get a retired bike jacket manufacturer back into business (making a half-belt pattern) but it was just too hard and I don't know enough.

That is just hideous...more suited to Ripley and the Alien franchise.
