CORRECTION: The zipper is a Talon from MASH of Japan, not an NOS--I apologize for the error.
I have an opportunity to buy another jacket, so something from my jacket armoire has to go. I offer this original Rough Wear A-2, restored, size 44.
You can see the story about the restoration here: https://www.vintageleatherjackets.o...other-than-andrew-swatland.21238/#post-205465
As noted, when I got the jacket, there were no cloth parts left. While it is unmistakably a Rough Wear, the restorer judged that it was either a Ac 23380 or a 27752 contract due to the larger pockets. A reproduction Roughwear 27752 label was placed in the jacket.
The leather is in remarkable shape. This was clearly a redye, but there is absolutely no skinning of the finish--it has worn off uniformally. There were a couple of very small holes in the leather on the right side undersleeve and one in the right rear back panel about the size of an eraser head, but the restorer repaired those, too. All the snaps work great and both sides of the collar clip are in great shape. This linen pocket tag is there, but the size is not legible. There are needle marks for a name tag, rank on the epaulets and for a shoulder roundel.
In short, you have a completely wearable, original A-2 that no amount of "time wearing" or "Combat Cloning" could ever achieve. I have only worn it out a few times since the restoration and you can't believe the number of people that have come up to me asking about the jacket.
Here are the measurements:
23.5": Pit to Pit Front
19.0": Shoulders
23.5": Windflap
24.0": Base of Collar Stand to Waistband Seam
27.0": Top of collar stand to bottom of knit
25.5": Shoulder to end of cuff
For reference, I am 5'8, weigh 170 lbs, and wear a 16" x 33" dress shirt and the jacket fits me perfectly, if not just a hair large.
$1,000 FIRM shipped in the US, add $82.00 for shipping via USPS Global Priority for overseas. While I have my eye on another jacket to replace this, if I own it another 30 years it won't hurt my feelings.
