Opinions on hat's specs needed.

It seems that Beaver Brand, via Duane, can (and are willing to) make just about any hat for you - so I'm thinking of trying to reproduce this 1928 Stetson that I've mentioned before:

But I'm not sure about a few details.

I think the brim edge is over-welted. Opinions? I would guess 2 5/8" width. Snap brim, or flat with a slight pencil curl?

The ribbon seems to be 22 ligne, and black. The felt is I think close to "Banker Grey". And I think a 5 3/4" open-crown height should be sufficient.

Please chime in. I'd like to get it right.
Thanks!

Maybe I can help. I have a vintage '20s "Stetson" fedora that's similar to the one in your advertisement.

The specs on mine are as follows:

-- Brim edge: overwelted

-- Brim width: 2 1/2 inches

-- Brim style: I made mine a snap, but I suppose it could have originally been flat

-- Ribbon: black, and 22 ligne.

-- Felt color: banker's grey

-- Open crown height: 5 3/4 to 5 7/8

Hope this helps!

Thanks guys! So it looks like I was pretty close with my original spec.

Great pictures Marc. Looks like you have the very hat from the ad (or darn close). Any idea what that model was called?
