I noticed this beauty on the Aero sale page, but I told myself I didn't need it:

http://www.aeroleatherclothing.com/product-detail.php?id=3591

Then I noticed it had sold. Wasn't surprised, well other than that it hadn't sold sooner.

Then a few days later, it popped up on the bay. I watched the auction, and it stayed at a ridiculously low price until very end. Just an hour before close, it was only at $340, and I was really tempted. But it ended up going for $535, just a little more than I was willing to go. But that's still a great bargain compared to the £525 it had been listed at on Aero's website. The buyer saved himself almost $200usd.

I'm glad I didn't get it, because I think I'd feel foolish wearing an aviator jacket, not being a pilot, and would likely have moved it on, although I can't imagine I'd have had to take any loss on it at that price. Not to mention it doesn't even have pockets. But it's just so gorgeous, just look at that shearling. The Irvin sure is an enduring, iconic design.

I wonder who the lucky new owner is?

Does no one buy jackets to actually wear them anymore? [emoji23]

I would have worn it, but I probably would have felt silly in it, and the weather might have allowed me to wear it a few days out of the year, probably less often as time goes on and the planet warms... So, then probably would have decided that the thing to do was move it on...

I don't agree with you. You should not feel foolish wearing an aviaor jacket, not being a pilot. How many of the members wearing aviator jackets are pilots here? We are not also in the first half of the 20th century too.

I also thought I was going to feel self conscious wearing an Irvin until I bought one, I couldn't have been more wrong, I love wearing them now, so always looking for an opportunity to put one on, like 5am dog walks, I own three sheepskins now, four if you count the vest. :)

I'll allow that possibly could have happened in my case as well.

I can't believe anyone could feel silly in an Irvin. They are incredibly well designed and look really cool. I've had loads of compliments about mine, no one has ever asked me which squadron I flew with, and any Spitfire jokes usually come from a good place. At some point I'll be buying another one, I can't imagine a wardrobe without one!

I wore an ANJ-4 for most of the winter and didn't attract any comments and that has an enormous collar. I've found people don't really care what you wear. I think people notice if you're feeling self-conscious however. Wear it like you don't give a damn!
